Shop local — come to GLAM on Dec. 4

GLAM Craft ShowHere at GLAM, we’re all about keeping in local. We started GLAM Craft Show in 2009 to provide a local holiday market for makers in our community. Eight years later, we remain true to these roots. More then 60 vendors in this year’s show hail from the greater Gainesville area. The others hail from Tallahassee, Jacksonville, and Orlando. One is even driving down from North Carolina, though he has family ties in St. Augustine, so we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and count him as a Floridian too.

But we don’t do it alone. Starting last year, we were fortunate to partner with the Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency to bring GLAM back to downtown Gainesville. The CRA worked to open the doors for us to use the historic GRU Operations Warehouse in Gainesville’s emerging Power District. It was the perfect spot–it offered the perfect amount of open space and industrial charm, plus it was within walking and bike riding distance of several neighborhoods.

cra-logo-with-textWe love that our partnership with the Community Redevelopment Agency on this project is one small step toward strengthening the fabric of our local community and making Gainesville a better place to live. If you’d like to see more about what’s envisioned for the Power District, check out the CRA’s redevelopment plan here.

I hope to see all of you at GLAM next week. You can visit our Facebook event page for more details about the event, as well as sneak peeks from vendors.

See you Sunday!

Applications for GLAM 2015 now being accepted

Luellabird at GLAM 2011There’s a hint of fall in the air and that means it’s time to start accepting applications for this year’s GLAM Craft Show. The show will take place on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Historic GRU Operations Warehouse in downtown Gainesville.

We’ve made a few changes in how we’re setting things up this year, so if you’re a repeat applicant, be sure to look over the application form carefully. The biggest change is that all booth spaces will now be outdoors. Booth vendors will have the option to bring their own pop-up tents, if they choose.

The good news for shoppers is that the new venue allows us more room, so we expect to have even more amazing vendors for you to choose from. And that’s a happy thing.

Potential vendors can apply here. Questions? Email Kim at

GLAM returns to downtown Gainesville

FullSizeRenderWe’re beyond excited to announce that GLAM Craft Show will be returning to downtown Gainesville in 2015! Save the date for Sunday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We are working with the Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency to bring GLAM to a warehouse in the Power District (see it on a map here). The space has the same cool industrial vibe as the airport hangar and just as much indoor space, plus tons of onsite and nearby parking. It will also be within walking and biking distance for many of you, just like the old days.

There are a few other exciting development we’re working on, but we can’t share the details just yet. In the meantime, we’ll be working with the CRA to get the space cleaned up and ready for the public. It’s going to be great!

The call for vendors will go out this week, so please stay tuned.
