Are you a local artist or crafter? If so, consider applying to be a part of GLAM Craft Show 2013.
We’re looking for potential vendors who offer unique, giftable items that will appeal to discerning shoppers who expect high-quality, handmade products. Vendors who make items for guys, kids, and pets are especially encouraged to apply.
Our vendors consistently rate GLAM Craft Show as one of the best shows in the North Florida area, both in terms of fun and profitability.
Want to apply? You can find the application form here. Applications are due by 11:55 p.m. on Sept. 27, 2013.
We’re excited to announce that we found a new and larger location for the 2012 GLAM Indie Craft Show!
This year’s show will take place on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Mustang Hangar, a WWII-era airplane hangar located just north of Gainesville airport off Waldo Road (map). Because the hangar is larger than any venue we’ve used in the past, we’ll be able to accept more vendors for this year’s show.
Shoppers will also be able to get up close and personal with the airplanes, which translates into great photo ops for kids and grownups alike. Plus, Celebrations Catering will be on hand with plenty of tasty treats for sale to keep your shopping stamina high.
The vendor application form is now open, so be sure to apply by the Oct. 7 deadline if you’re interested in being a part of the show. Just click on the Apply tab at the top of the screen.
The Mustang Hangar was originally part of the Alachua Army Airfield, a military airfield that began operation in the months following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The airfield was used to train pilots throughout the war years and was later handed over to the City of Gainesville.
The former military airfield is now the site of Gainesville Regional Airport. Interestingly, the air strips that were used in the 1940s look virtually the same as they do today, as you can see in these two photos. The first was taken in 1949 and the second is from a recent screenshot of Google maps.

We’re excited to announce that GLAM Indie Craft Show is moving to a new home!
After enjoying two great years at the Thelma Boltin Center, we decided that it was time to find a larger venue. Now we’ll be able to open up additional spots for talented artists and crafters, and we’ll have plenty of room in the aisles for our wonderful customers. GLAM is an annual holiday craft show that provides a venue for local artists and crafters to sell their handmade products. The event draws a broad audience including college students, young families, and baby boomers who are interested in shopping locally this holiday season.
GLAM 2009 took place on Sunday, Nov. 22. Thanks again to all the vendors who helped make the show such a success!
Also, thanks to the Original Pizza Palace for the food and the musicians for the tunes — DJ Phred, Terrazzo Four, Dirty Fists, and Hoit.
And of course, thanks to all the shoppers. And when I say all I mean ALL — we had nearly 500 shoppers pass through the doors of the Boltin Center. Not bad. You can catch a glimpse of them here in this time-lapse video we shot. Hope to see everyone again at GLAM 2010!
